2nd Quarter 2012 Housing Market Report for Dix Hills, Melville Half Hollow Hills School District
Sales of homes on Long Island continue to show an improvement in the housing market as indicated in the Dix Hills Melville SD#5 Housing Market Update for the 2nd Quarter, 2012. Market statistics show an increase of 33.3% in the number of homes entered into contract for Dix Hills from the year before. Melville shows an increase of 13.6%. Housing prices as indicated from the homes closed show a negligible difference from the selling prices of one year ago.
The monthly reports from Long Island MLS have shown positive numbers this year also. Their monthly video report presents sales numbers and prices for Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Continued record low interest rates for mortgages and stabilizing housing prices make this an opportune time to buy a home. This Spring has seen an influx of buyers – including young families ready to enter the housing market after sitting on the sidelines for the last few years. Whether you’re moving up, downsizing, an empty-nester, a senior citizen, single, a couple or a family – now truly is the best time to buy a home. These market conditions will not be here forever. When I started real estate mortgages were in the double-digits. We all celebrated when mortgage rates broke below 10%.
